Biography

I was born in Fr. Bragg, N.C., and lived in eleven places by my high school graduation. Graduating from the University of Virginia in 1978, I worked for a year before attending the T.C Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. After starting my practice with Mustian, Parker and Tavenner, I was drawn to criminal defense and traffic work, as I loved being in the courtroom. As my career progressed, I found myself doing almost exclusively criminal and traffic work. I have tried over 100 murder cases during my career, as well as approximately 25 capital murder cases, including the Southside Strangler and Ricky Gray.

If there is a criminal charge out there, I have almost certainly represented someone charged with it. I feel fortunate to have represented clients facing charges throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. I regularly appear in Henrico County, Hanover County, Chesterfield County, the City of Richmond, Goochland County, New Kent County, Powhatan County and the Central Virginia area. My office is located in Courthouse Commons, just across East Parham Road from the Henrico J&DR District Court. My proximity to the Henrico County Jail allows me to visit clients held there quickly and frequently.

It is my pleasure to guide you through the criminal justice process, keeping you informed every step of the way. Providing knowledge and information is part of my obligation to you, the client., and is an obligation I take seriously. Please allow me to assist you through the difficult times which come with being charged with a criminal or traffic offense.
